2nd Day Struggles and Thoughts

UPDATE (8/6/09): We have been using the new schedule for the past 2 days and it's going well. I think the lightbulb came on for Miller today. He realizes that it's up to him to get his work done in a timely manner or spend all day on it and miss out on other (fun) things (which is what happened yesterday).
Original Post: I know it's only the 2nd day of school, but I think homeschooling 2 is going to be a challenge! I have 2 VERY different children and that really comes out in the "classroom". And I have a 1 year old who loves to hang out under the table and get into the school stuff! I went out tonight with a good friend who happens to be a great listener. We came up with the idea that I should (after having our bible lesson together) let Bailey have her computer time while I teach Miller his math and language lessons and then give him his work to do on his own. Then I can work with Bailey on her lessons. That way both kids get my one on one attention and can do their work without the distraction of the other one. After lunch we will do social studies or science or other extracurricular activites together. I am going to try this for a few days and see how things go. I know that it's the first week of school and we will probably change our routine several times before we find something that really works for us. But that's the great thing about homeschooling. I can tailor our day to meet the needs of my 2 very different children!
Another great thing about homeschooling...
recess in the pool!
