First Day of School

Today was our first day of school. We like to start early and get done by the beginning of May. It also gives us a little extra flexibility if we need it. I wish I could say it was a great day, but...let me say it wasn't horrible! But Madelyn was a handful! I know it was day one and we all have some adjusting to do. I keep reminding myself that last year, Madelyn was taking a morning nap which was a huge help. She thinks she's as big as Bailey and she wanted to be right in the middle of everything (literally). And I think she struggled with the lack of attention. We tried to include her but nothing seemed to satisfy her.

We are trying a couple of new things this year. Instead of using Abeka for science and history, we are using Apologia Science

and The Story of the World for history.

This book covers world history from ancient times until the present (there are 4 volumes). Miller and Bailey will both be using these texts so I won't be teaching seperate science and history lessons. And they both have exciting activity books. I'm really excited about these! Miller will also be completing a "My State" notebook this year.

My 1st and 4th grader (and preschooler!) Don't they look thrilled?

Here are a couple of pictures of the first day of school last year

I can't believe how much they've grown!

  1. Daniel is doing that same Science! I love it! He'll be doing it with a co-op class that meets one day a week. The girls are also using Apologia -Gracie will do Anatomy and Ally Physical Science. Hope it goes better tomorrow!
