First Field Trip
We took our very first field trip of the school year yesterday. We visited the Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Topsail Beach. This week in science we studied sea turtles so actually seeing them live was very exciting for the kids. We saw 3 species of sea turtles: the Loggerhead, the Green Sea Turtle, and the most endangered of all sea turtles, the Kemp's Ridley. We learned why they were in the rehabilitation center and when they would be released into the ocean. It was fun for me to see the expression on Miller and Bailey's faces when the volunteers would tell us about the specific turtle and it would be something we read about in our lesson. Our friends who are also homeschooled joined us which made the field trip so much more fun! The only disappointment was that we couldn't take pictures inside.
