Geocaching

At about 5:00 Sunday afternoon, Jay said, "Who wants to go on a treasure hunt?" Of course, we were all on board, having no idea what he was talking about! So we got our Awana attire on, grabbed our stuff, and jumped in the truck.

We headed to our destination and then followed the GPS to find our first treasure.

I had no idea what we were doing, and we were going straight to church after our treasure hunt, so I wore the wrong shoes for trapsing through the woods!

The type of treasure hunt we went on is called Geocaching. Geocaching is a treasure hunting game where you use a GPS to hide and seek containers. The first one we hunted was an ammunition box (that has treasure inside...you take something from the box and put something inside for the next person to find). We didn't find that one but the second one we hunted was a pillbox with a piece of paper inside to log our name and the date we found it (no actual treasure inside to take).

Since we were heading to church, we were running out of time so we decided to try that one later. We headed over to another spot in the same area to see if we could find a different treasure.

Maybe it's in here? No...

Found it!!!

We signed our names and dated it and then put it back in it's hiding place for the next person to find. I think we've found a new family activity!
