Museum of Natural Science Field Trip

Friday, our homeschool group took a field trip to the Museum of Natural Science in Raleigh.  We have been study land animals in science this year so it was fun to see up close a lot of the things we've learned about.

Miller and Jay with a whale skeleton

We saw a presentation with several live animals.  Bailey touching the dove

Miller and the alligator

Madelyn and the snake

We just studied snakes a few weeks ago.  Miller and Bailey did a project on the 6 poisonous snakes of North Carolina so it was fun to see most of them up close.

View of the research center from the museum

The research center was really cool.  We saw researchers at work,

and had fun in the Investigate Lab.  We could have probably spent most of the day in there.

We had 18 from our group to go and had a great time exploring together.  The real adventure began on our journey home though.  It started sleeting while we were inside the museum.  What would normally be a 2 hour trip home took us 4 hours!  The road conditions were not good and traffic was slow moving.  But we all made it home safely.

  1. This was a fun trip, so much to see in one day! I'm so glad the older ones had some hands on time in the lab. That looked like a lot of fun. Maybe when mine are older, we'll go back and check it out again.
