Shrimp Boat Field Trip

A field trip in the summer? I think so! Today Miller and Bailey and 2 of their friends went on a shrimp boat excursion. It was through the Southport Maritime Museum summer camp program. A very nice couple, whose family has been in the shrimping business for 5 generations, generously gave 3 hours of their time (and boat gas!) to take the kids out, teach them how to shrimp, about different sea animals, and even how to drive the boat! They had a great time! Madelyn and I spent that time at a nearby beach playing in the sand and jumping waves.

Bailey and 2 friends will go back next week to take part in a program called "Kids on Deck".
