Stingrays Swim Team

Miller tried something new this summer. He swam for the Stingrays swim team. It was such a great experience! He had practice 4 nights a week and there were 5 meets. Because of scout camp and some bad weather, he was only able to make one meet but was able to swim in a relay and the championships at the end of the season. It's definitely something he'll be doing again next year. Bailey says she wants to swim next year too! She's already practicing her strokes. Our first meet was at Cashwell Beach against the Marlins. The Cowell's swam on the same team; that made it all the more fun!
Waiting for his next heat
Miller swam (freestyle) in a relay at Cape Fear Country Club. His relay team came in 6th out of 12 teams! Way to go Stingrays! Go, Miller, go!

We were beginning to think the championships weren't going to happen because of some bad weather this week, but after postponing them twice, we were finally able to swim on Tuesday. Miller got first place in his heat for freestyle. At regular meets, heat winners get a ribbon but at championships they get a rubber ducky!
At the end of the season there's a banquet where families can eat, swim, and play games together. That's also when all the swimmers are recognized for their hard work.
