Things to Remember

Let me preface this post by saying it's for me. You will probably scratch your head and say, "huh?" after you read this, especially since you can't hear Madelyn saying these things. But Madelyn has been saying 3 things this week that I want to remember.

#1 (in her most slow, country accent) "I'm just a simple country boy"
#2 (in a sing-song voice, while running in circles around the den) "Rub my bunjuns" (bunjuns=bunions)
#3 (said to me tonight in a very serious manner) "I got the moves like Jagger, I just don't want to show you"

I love this girl!

No More Fingers!

No more sucking fingers, that is! We are so proud of Madelyn. About 6 weeks ago we started painting her nails with "Kick the Habit", that nasty tasting nail polish. I am pleased to say that it worked! She has stopped sucking her fingers. To celebrate, we painted her finger nails with a color for the very first time last week. She was so excited.

First Haircut

Madelyn has been asking to get her hair cut for a while now. She really wants her hair like Bailey's. Her hair did need some help so I decided to take her for a haircut at Ribbet Salon in Wilmington. She was so excited! She was such a big girl and did everything the stylist told her to do.

It looks so pretty and healthy now, especially when we pull the front back with a bow. When the stylist asked her if she liked it, she said, "No. I want it like Bailey's." I told her that maybe one day, when she's older, she can have a shorter cut. Mommy just isn't ready for her hair to be that short!

Granddad, Grandma, Aunt Susan, and Nana came for a visit and to take Madelyn out to lunch. After lunch, we had, at Madelyn's request, brownies!

Happy 3rd Birthday!

Madelyn,
Today you are 3 years old! I don't know what we would do without you in our lives. You are such a special gift from God. You make everything so much more colorful around here! You are so sassy (and bossy!) and just oozing with personality. You rarely stop talking. You sure do keep us laughing with the things you say (and how you say them). When we ask you how old you are, you say "6!". You think you are as big as your big sister. You are miss independent and it amazes me what you can do all by yourself. You will be starting homeschool preschool next week. You have been potty trained for 2 months. You love to play with baby dolls, and you love clothes, shoes, and most anything girly. You love to be on the go and shopping is one of your favorite things. We love you more than words can say big girl!

Busy Week

Last week was a very busy week! Miller went to gymnastics camp so that meant getting everyone up and driving into Wilmington every day! I have a new respect for working moms! Miller really enjoyed camp. I think his favorite thing was just playing and building forts with the boys his age. Friday was parents day, which meant we got to go a little early to pick him up and we were able to go into the gym. Miller took us around and showed us what he had learned and I was able to take pictures. The girls were able to play too.

One of the days that Miller was at camp, the girls and I had "spa morning".

One night last week we went to Britt's Donuts. It was our first visit of the summer.

I love the expression on these faces. Can you see the sugar high?

On Saturday, Jay and I, along with his mom, went to a wedding in Ramsuer, NC. My parents and sister kept the kids.

Before the wedding...

We spent Sunday afternoon at my parents house, celebrating Father's Day.
